From the airports

From Narita airport

By train:

From Narita airport, catch the JR Narita Express (timetable) bound for Tokyo and Yokohama. Alight at JR Shinagawa station. Note that JR Shinagawa station is the stop after JR Tokyo station. The train may divide at Tokyo station into two with about six coaches continuing towards Shinjuku and Ikebukuro while the other six continuing towards Yokohama. Ensure that you are on the latter part of the train. The train journey takes about 67 minutes in total . Narita express costs about JPY 3110 .

Alternatively, take the Keisei Skyliner from Narita airport and at Ueno station, change to JR Yamanote line bound for Tokyo and Shinagawa. Alight at Shinagawa station. Keisei Skyliner costs JPY 2400 to Ueno and then JR Yamanote line costs JPY 160 to Shinagawa station. The train journey takes about 58 minutes in total .

At JR Shinagawa station, exit through the Takanawa (West) exit and follow the instructions below for directions from Shinagawa station.

By bus:

From bus stops 4 and 13 of Narita airport terminal 1 and stops 4 and 14 of terminal 3, you could also take the Airport Limousine bus bound for Shinagawa and Ebisu area hotels, particularly if you are going directly to your hotel. Check with the limousine bus to ensure that it will stop at your hotel. The limousine costs about JPY 3,500 and takes about 90 minutes .
From Haneda airport

By train:

Catch the Keihin Kyuko Keikyu Airport Line bound for Shinagawa. Alight at Keihin Kyuko Shinagawa station. The train journey takes about 20 minutes in total. Keihin Kyuko airport line costs about JPY 400 .

At Shinagawa station, exit through the Takanwa (West) exit and follow the instructions below for directions from Shinagawa station.

By taxi

Outside the Takanawa exit of Shinagawa station, there is a taxi rank from where you can get a taxi to Tokai University (in Japanese: Tokai Daigaku 東海大学). It costs JPY 710 and takes about 5 minutes .

By bus

There are also city buses that ply between Shinagawa station and Tokai University's Takanawa campus. You can take the standard bus or the JPY 100 small bus ("chii bus" or ちいバス) from outside JR Shinagawa station on the Takanawa route between Shinagawa and Tamachi. Alight at the Takanawa-2-chome stop after passing the Takanawa police station and follow the walking route as described below.

On foot

The taxi route is also walkable but it is a 1.6 km walk, so perhaps not the best for summer! However, should you wish to walk, follow the road that goes up the hill right outside the taxi rank, just opposite of the JR Shinagawa station west exit. The road will eventually turn right at the top of the hill. Keep walking and you will cross the Takanawa police station on your right, and eventually a Lawson's convenience store on your left. Tokai University campus is just few meters ahead and to the right of that convenience store. This walk takes about 25 minutes .
From Tokyo Metro Shirokane-takanawa station

On foot

At Shirokane-takanawa station, exit through exit 1. On the street level, turn left and continue along Sakurada Dori. After crossing the bridge, at the crossing, turn left and uphill into Merry Road Takanawa. When you reach the T-junction at the top of the road, turn right and you will see Tokai University. Note that you will also see Tokai High School on your left at the T-junction. The university entrance is on your right. This walk takes about 10 minutes .

Free taxi

From Keikyu Inn Shinagawa

The conference will provide a free taxi pick-up from Keikyu Inn Shinagawa GOOS to Tokai University's Takanawa campus. You do not need to make any prior reservation for it. Just turn up at the following time and place to meet the conference organisers. Even if you stay in a hotel other than the Keikyu Inn Shinagawa, you can avail of the free taxi.
